How Despoke aims to revolutionize the industry
Decentralized Garment Production
As previously noted, the fashion industry is associated with several adverse effects on the environment, society, and individual well-being.
One of our strategies to mitigate these impacts is the adoption of decentralized garment production.
Decentralized garment production involves the active participation of consumers or the community in decisions related to garment manufacturing. In this model, consumers or community members would have the opportunity to vote on which garments should be produced and marketed. Designs would be developed by selected designers, and the community would then vote on which designs they prefer for production. Garments receiving the highest allocation of votes would subsequently be manufactured and made available for retail customers on our online store.
This process would have a positive impact on the industry by:
Reducing Environmental Impact: Global fashion brands frequently produce hundreds of products without certainty regarding their market success. Unsold items often end up in landfills, contributing significantly to waste and negatively impacting the environment. The fast fashion model exacerbates this issue, with some brands discarding unsold items on a weekly basis. By implementing decentralized garment production, the likelihood of success for each garment is enhanced, as products are pre-selected by consumers. Consequently, garments that proceed to production are more likely to achieve sales, thereby inherently reducing waste and mitigating overproduction.
On-Demand Manufacturing: Related to the environmental consequences of overproduction, the integration of a decentralized garment production system allows for the quantification of garments to be produced based on the approximate number of votes recorded during the selection phase. This approach effectively mitigates overproduction and helps reduce waste.
Increased Sense of Belonging: Incorporating community and consumer involvement into the garment production process significantly enhances the sense of belonging and positively impacts consumer well-being. This approach fosters a sense of value among consumers and cultivates an environment conducive to diverse opinions. Consequently, it establishes a brand that is driven by community engagement, encouraging long-term participation from both consumers and investors. This process also elevates the intrinsic value of the garments, promoting a tendency for individuals to retain their clothing for extended periods.
Transparency and Traceability
Supply Chain: At Despoke, we are committed to transparency in all aspects of our operations. By incorporating blockchain technology into the supply chain process, consumers will have access to real-time data regarding garment production, transportation, and other relevant activities. This integration will facilitate the verification of ethical practices and the authenticity of sustainability claims.
Transparent Fund Management: Despoke is dedicated to fostering trust and transparency with both consumers and investors. To support this commitment, team wallets will be accessible for public monitoring. This enables consumers and investors to track transactions and verify transparency in company expenditures.
